Diving the Shallow Wrecks at Butler Bay, West Side of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands with Cane Bay Dive Shop and Liquid-Origins.com. The Shallow wrecks consist of the Ajer, a NOAA underwater observatory, sunken as an artificial reef after retirement, the Virgin Islander Barge, being the deepest of the shallow wrecks and the tug boat North Winds. These artificial reefs as well as the small natural reef and rubble patches in the area offer an incredibly diverse habitat attracting a plethora of marine life.
