Heron’s Watery Hunt

I ran into a Great Blue Heron the other day out by a waterfall. I was setup just across the river and after taking photos from a far and observing, I determined that it was not a very good hunter…. might be there for awhile. With that in mind I made the gamble to pack up my gear and make an attempt at a better vantage point to shoot from. The water beneath the waterfall is swift but shallow with rocks and rubble as a bottom, lined with little pools of rock formations. Sure enough when I got to the other side it was still there in the same little pool, watching fish, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make his move.. He really needs to learn that perfect opportunities are rare to stumble upon and you can never plan on their occurrence.
